My blood pumped fast through my veins as I storm into Heorot, tearing the door right off its' hinges. The scenarios running through my head mad me happier and happier with each step I take; everyone's faces showing shock and fear, making my pleasure grow. I quickly wrap my arms around the first person I see devour him whole; the man being a Geatish warrior.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Beowulf, the man everyone thinks is the greatest hero ever, staring at me; carefully observing my every move. My angry starts to boil and I throw my arm out, ready to snatch this fowl man and crush him with my bare hands- What the heck? I come to find that He already has my arm in a grip with so much that I never knew was possible; so much pain running up my arm that I couldn't stop until his grip was released. So much fear was running through me, all I wanted to do was run back to the safety of the swamplands. I try with all my might to escape, but it is no use. Beowulf wrestled me to the ground; combatants crashing all around the hall, rattling the walls and smashing the meadbenches. I scream and shout in pain; fear coursing through my body. As I lay there, his men fearlessly hack at my body, Beowulf still fighting with myself. "No weapon on this entire earth is capable of harming me, Grendel the beast!" I chant into my head. Pain. Excruciating pain. I look down to where my arm used to be connected, only to see that it wasn't there... But to find it lying in the hands of the one and only.... Beowulf. As I lye there in pain, I gaze up to see Beowulf holding up my once attached arm, yelling in victory. With the opportunity I had, I quickly took my chance and quickly went back to my swampy home. Am I going to die? Will it grow back? Can I live without it? Why am I becoming so tired? What will my mother think? Am I going to bleed out? All these questions were running through my head as I slowly started to become dizzy. My eyes became droopy. I knew I was slowly falling into a deep sleep; but was I going to wake up from it? These could be my last breaths. With-in seconds, I knew I was coming close to taking my last breath, it becoming harder and harder for me to breath and to stay awake. Just then, my eyes shut automatically... *phew* My last breath ported my body, along with my soul, leaving my body empty and cold.

A true hero does not fear death or, but instead risks all that he is for what he believes to be right, moral, and just. Beowulf is an epic and tells the story of a legendary hero, conquering all obstacles as if he was immortal. Up until the end of Beowulf's life, he was constantly looking to be the hero. However, his humanity is exposed by his death. Heroes ll share the characteristic of their willingness to die in their effort to accomplish their heroic act, thus making the act in itself heroic. Throughout the epic, Beowulf in many ways exhibited all the qualities and characteristics needed to be a true hero.
Grendel had started out killing the men because the men would sing every night, and Grendel hated it. He couldn't sleep because they would play and sing it so loud. After Grendel had killed the men, because of the music it, he had gotten a huge blood lust. The difference between Grendel and Grendel's mother is that Grendel kills for the fun of it; the blood lust. Grendel's mother kills because she wants revenge. Grendel's mother wanted revenge on Beowulf because Beowulf had killed Grendel and hung his arm up on there rafters as a victory and as a souvenir. Unlike, Grendel, Grendel's mother is more humanized as an antagonist. Grendel's mother is not as huge, nor powerful as her son is.
I believe that school is preparing us for the future. There are classes that we will learn things that we believe we won't need in the future; but one day, those things we learn will come in handy in some kind of way. It could be for your job, all the way to helping your child with their homework. For our school, we have a tech center that is filled with different classes that can interest you and may be something for you to take that will include in your future / job. For example, I am taking Interior Design because I plan to become a Interior Design when I grow into adult hood. I am aiming to go to CMU for four years and get my degree in Interior Design, then move to a bigger city for my future job. In order to make this goal, I have had to take painting classes (to learn different colors) drafting, construction, Interior Design, and drawing. Math is a core class, but I'm happy it was something we had to take because there is actually a lot of math that you have to do in Interior Design. Science can also be a part of this job; having to think about the way something is put it and how the weather will affect it. Civics, so we know about the finances; or even Economics.
There are other classes that the school offers us that will help us later on in life; Senior Survival. They teach you many things you will need to know that you don't learn in other classes that you're definitely gonna need to know. Why does Beowulf journey across the sea to the land of the Danes?
The stories of Grendel's attacks have spread. Grendel has been attacking Herot for 12 years and so the word have reaches the land of the Geats; Beowulf's land. Beowulf's father, Edgetho, had once fought alongside Hrothgar and Hrothgar had saved Edgetho. Beowulf, therefore, feels in debt to Hrothgar. How does Beowulf trap and kill Grendel? Beowulf strips of all his clothes, so that it is a fair match between the two. He then had his men sing loud chants to aggravate Grendel to come to the mess hall. Once he comes, Beowulf's men unsuccessfully attack and many die. Beowulf kills him by repeatedly slamming his fists into his ears and as he does, Grendel shrinks. Grendel flees , but Beowulf traps him by using chains and tieing him to the door. Beowulf cuts his arm off and Grendel eventually dies. What drives Grendel to attack so many men at Herot? The men were singing praise songs and, given that Grendel is supposed to be a descendant of Cain and an enemy of God, he wanted the singing to end. Why does Beowulf hang Grendel's arm from the rafters of Herot? Grendel's severed claw, arm, and shoulder are symbols and proof of Beowulf's successful battle. He apologizes for not bringing the full corpse. It is, in part, to offer proof of success that it hangs from the rafters, but it is also a trophy of battle for Beowulf. Grendel is described as a descendant of Cain, the first murderer in the Bible. This would make him evil in the eyes of an audience of his day. He lives in the wilds, away from human society, and his attack on Herot is motivated by his hatred for joyous celebration. On the other hand, Beowulf is a man who has deep affection for his other humans. He is not merely an incredibly strong fighter but he is equally skilled with words. He defends Unferth, talks like an ambassador when returning home, and, towards the end of his life, gives an accounting of his actions that sounds like an elder statesman. He is loyal, compassionate, and the only character who talks about god. Grendel seems capable only of destruction. Beowulf becomes a wise and successful king who is loved by his countrymen.
When most people hear the word monster, the first thing that comes to mind is an actual monster that we think is under our bed, or monsters that are in movies. Sometimes, the definition to monster isn't always something that is big, furry and scary. Sometimes, it can be the personality of someone. Some people think of their step parent a monster, or a friend; most usually it being someone that has done something unthinkable to you or someone close to you. The person had evil lurking in them, and you've see it; you've seen what they have done and what they are capable of. Most usually, you don't figure out that that person is a monster until you have first hand at what they have done; things they have destroyed because they are a monster. That is what monsters do; monsters destroy things. The big and furry monsters that we see on TV are like a metaphor of what's really out there. Most monsters destroy things like a monster and real like can destroy the things you love. When people think of these monsters under their bed, it's really saying that what that monster has done to you is there taunting you, like a monster is their taunting you under your bed.
A hero doesn't always have to be a super hero like in the comic books. A hero can be someone you know that impacts your life. A hero can be your mom, or a teacher, or can even be a celebrity. My hero would be my grandma Betty. She isn't a superhero, but in my eyes, she is. My grandma has taught me almost everything I know. From learning my ABC's to learning my manners. Whenever I need someone to talk to, my grandma is always there for me. It doesn't matter what it is, she will always be there.
I believe that fate doesn't have to control our lives. The way our lives go depend on what we want and if we will go for it or not. If you commit a crime, fate is you will get caught. But, if you go for your doctors degree, you can go two different ways. Fate has no part in it. You can become a doctor, or you could go for your teachers degree and become a teacher. Fate doesn't even have anything to do if you wanted to get that doctors degree. It is your choice on if you want to go for it or not; not fates. I believe that appreciating what you have in life is one of the most important things in life. Everyone has a different income, or, shall I say, luck. There's homeless people, compared to the rich and wealthy. Homeless people, since I have almost nothing, they come to learn to appreciate the little things they get; food, bedding, clothing, warmth, etc. While the rich and wealthy don't appreciate almost anything. They have everything they want and more. They never appreciate the thing until it's gone. They don't notice how good it was to have it until they can't use it anymore. If you put these two different people in the same room with a plate a food, they will have two totally different views of it. A rich and wealthy will see it as just another meal; it means nothing to them. A homeless person would see it as life; like heaven on a plate. Wouldn't matter what it was, it would be like finding the love of your life. This is why people should appreciate more of the things they get everyday while some people are only getting them once in awhile; sometimes once a week, sometimes once a year.
